ReplyDeleteJack,
DeleteYou have done well in identifying the stylistic features of postmodernim and have developed to discuss how this is used to communicate with the audience.
I'm not sure that you have expressed simulations aspect correctly, but certainly it deals with themes of simulation of humanity and draws parallels with consumer capitalism turning us into zombies (he doesn't notice the cornershop has been trashed, zombies are in the street) It also has a PoMo theme of distopian futures and a lack of belief in scientific progress.
have another watch and see if you can see this
V Good effort

DeleteGood identification of the intertextual references in the your case study, with some detailed and well chosen specific examples. You apply the term Intertextuality as well as hyper-real (also consider that the story existing as a jumble of other stories and that it is aware of this - is this pastiche or parody, does it involve bricolage or is it using these references for their stylistic meaning?
A great start Chloe, well done

DeleteSome developed points about postmodernism identifying both stylistic features (hyprereality, intertextuality) with themes (simulacra, avatars - virtual selves), you show a more considered understanding of these concepts in your example rather than just identifying.
Very good effort

DeleteObed - this is not acceptable at A2 Level. Plagiarism is a serous offense and will lead to disqualification. You are better than this.
Re-do the essay with your own work, using another example - this is literally cut and paste (it even reads like a review)

DeleteSome good instances of understanding shown here with in your example, but there are many instances of postmodern style in Family Guy not mentioned.
To improve try and be more specific in identifying these terms in Family Guy. It uses many intertextual references and parody which could be developed, as well as playing with the possibilities of the TV format (ie self reflexivity)
Good comprehension response

ReplyDeleteGood effort Katie, you show are able to identify some of the features of postmodern style and identified specific examples
DeleteTo improve - apply these concepts to your examples, why are they postmodern, what is the purpose, meaning, why important?
Simulacra of a typical small town America with a typical Nuclear Family.
"that it is a non-linear narrative" - episodic narrative
Good effort, well done
